Safeguarding at Westside
At Westside, we are aligned with the British Tennis Safeguarding strategy to strive to ensure that all children, young people and adults at risk are safeguarded from abuse and have an enjoyable tennis experience.
Everyone who is involved in tennis at Westside has a shared responsibility to support this by promoting the welfare of all children, young people and adults at risk.
Liza Roe (07775 653025) is Westside's Safeguarding officer. All our coaches are accredited and are therefore safeguarding trained, as is manager Gayle Yorston.
Listed below are the policies put in place by the Westside Committee to ensure that ALL members enjoy their experience at the club. These policies are available for inspection at the club.
What to do if you have a concern
Any concerns about a child, young person or adult at risk should be raised with our club’s welfare officer, Liza Roe on 07775 653025 or the Safe and Inclusive Tennis team on safeandinclusive@LTA.org.uk as soon as possible. If you are unable to contact either of them, the NSPCC have a 24/7 helpline – 0808 800 5000.
It is best practice to gain consent before you share information, however you can still share information to help keep them safe.
You should, where possible, gain parental consent to share information unless it puts the child, yourself or another person at risk of harm. If an adult at risk does not give consent, you can share the information if you reasonably believe they are at risk of harm to themselves or others, or someone has committed or is likely to commit a criminal offence.
