Job Description
The Head Coach will ensure that the member playing experience is the best it can be for all members of Westside. They will be responsible for the delivery of all coaching, competitive and social aspects of Westside’s tennis programme.
They will work closely with a Tennis Coordinator who will provide support to the club tennis programme, and the Club Manager. The Head Coach will work together with the Westside team to inspire members to participate in a structured and balanced tennis programme for all ages and abilities.
Leadership and management skills will be required to lead, manage and develop the coaching programme and the individual coaches. The position is a full-time role and will be a mixture of on court support and coaching, and off court management.
There is the opportunity to earn additional income from coaching on a self-employed basis.
This is a position that requires flexible working including work on weekends and evenings. The club is generally busy from 8:30am to 10:30pm, seven days a week.
We are looking for an LTA coaching accreditation of Level 4 or above, and importantly someone that embraces Westside as a tennis club. The candidate will need to demonstrate the ability to engage and enthuse members across all user groups.
The role will focus on several key areas:
– Development and delivery of a structure coaching programme (junior and adult)
– Management and development of self-employed coaching personnel
– Events (e.g .club championships, box leagues, junior competitions)
– Membership support
– Liaison with LTA
– Competition programme (including overseeing junior teams)
– Promote and market the Westside Brand
Person Specification
•LTA Tennis Coaching qualification (Minimum Level 4)
•Accredited +
•Proven track record of success in developing, designing, and delivering an inclusive and comprehensive tennis and coaching programme in line with the LTA pathway
•Strong leadership and communication skills
•Excellent team building and people skills
•Enthusiasm and passion for tennis
•Member focused mind-set
•Highly structured and organised
•Commercially minded – able to work to financial budgets and targets
•Computer literate, including Word, Excel, TTP, WordPress and LTA Results Manager software, Court Reserve, Social media
•Prepared to “go the extra mile” and be self-motivated
•DBS (CRB) checked, First Aid certificate, record of attendance on appropriate safeguarding courses
•Referee qualification would be desirable
